Savannah – in the Spotlight

    Southern Living – April 2018

Celebrated as one of the South’s Best Cities / by Southern Living / April 2018 Issue

Savannah, Georgia has just been named as one of the South’s Best Cities by Southern Living, and as a Savannah resident, I couldn’t agree more.  Who doesn’t love a coastal town for walking along one of the nearby island beaches or launching your boat to meander on the Intracoastal Waterway.  And there’s much more to love:

The Historic District–  for horse-drawn carriage rides through the largest historic district in the U.S. through our historic squares and the myriad of tours on trolleys or on foot to learn more about our heritage, museums, places of worship, shops, and eateries. Did I say shop? Find out how to shop until you drop at Savannah.com.

The Food– for foodies Savannah is heaven with everything from low-country boils to Paula Deen’s to fine dining.  Eating family style at Mrs. Wilkes or celebrating a special occasion at Olde Pink House – there is something for everyone.  Want a fabulous quiche Lorraine, Chocolate croissant, and a cappuccino – go to Goose Feathers.  Want the most famous ice cream in the U.S. – go to Leopold’s. More great suggestions are at  Trip-Advisor’stop ten in Savannah.

The Special Events– for endless ways to socialize and de-stress whether it’s the big events like the Rock-n-Roll Marathon, SCAD Film Festival, and the Food & Wine Festival or the weekly events on Forsyth Park – there is always something you can do to help support the community while having fun. Check out Visit Savannah’s Calendar of Events.

The Weather– for outdoor recreation of all kinds including golfing, tennis, sailing, cycling, and jogging or walking. Get to know Savannah’s Average Climate throughout the year.

The Beautiful Scenery– for visions of beauty such as the ancient oak trees that canopy the historic district with Spanish Moss waving in the coastal breeze, the riverfront at night, Forsyth Park anytime, and the coastal views of the marsh and its creeks that serpentine into the Atlantic Ocean.  These are top 15 places to view Savannah’s scenery.

Community– for a sense of belonging, which is what I think makes Savannah one of the best cities in the south to me.  The communities of Dutch Island and the Landings on Skidaway Island have been home to my family.   The Landings where we currently live is a resort-like community with a gorgeous backdrop of tidal marshes and the Intracoastal Waterway.  It has everything from patio homes to estates.  Its active, outdoor lifestyle is what I enjoy most, and I especially enjoy tennis.  I support local events such as the Joseph/Candler Savannah Challenger, a USTA Pro Circuit Event that is coming up later this month.

If you are interested in knowing more about the Landings’ residential offerings, my team has collectively over 38 years of residency at the Landings.  Let us be the first to welcome you to our community and show you around.  Check out the current listings here.
